| PINK!! |
We decided to do things a bit different this time around with our "little girl" and we had a cupcake revealing party with family. My family gets together once a month for dinner and since our ultra sound was on the 25th and the dinner was on the 28th, we wanted to do something special for her that we didn't do for Connor (since the 2nd child tends to get forgotten in some things).
My ultrasound on the 25th was different for I had to go to a specialist (watch out! Old lady carrying a baby!!!) First off I was having a bad back baby day so lying down on than less that comfortable bed was a bit trying. The ultrasound tech was with us for about 45 minutes and pretty much checked every inch of her. It was cool and interesting everything they were checking, 2 halves to the brain, 4 chamber heart, 2 arms, 2 legs, you get the point. She made us turn away when she was taking the "gender shot" and put them in a sealed envelope for us. We drove to pick up Connor, had some dinner and then STRAIGHT to Desi's house to give her the pictures so she could make these lovely cupcakes for us. So besides the tech, Desi was the first person to know what we were having.
To my surprise I actually wasn't as eager to find out the gender as I thought I was. As long as the picture was out of my hand, I wasn't tempted.
Saturday finally arrived and we got our cupcakes (12 vanilla and 12 chocolate) and you couldn't tell what was inside. As we began our drive to dinner that is when the cupcakes started to "burn a hole" in our back seat. When we got there at 5:30 I was surprised that EVERYONE was already there! (usually we have a couple of stragglers) but in this case I guess everyone was dying to find out what this little baby was!
My family had gotten us 1 pink ballon and 1 blue balloon to help celebrate what BK2 would be. After everyone was seated and we got Connor into place, we cut the cupcake open and the filling was pink. A baby girl is on the way for the Kolson family.
My dad and step mom were very excited. Jon's mom Gina was in shock for about 24 hours and at first wasn't too sure what was happening (she raised 2 boys) so the next day when she came over she was very excited about finally having a little girl in the family. Jon's dad Andrew was also very excited for the exception of 1 girl (Jon's cousin in Warsaw) everyone else is a boy so this Kolson baby girl will be spoiled no doubt!
We are so excited that God has not only blessed us with a wonderful baby boy in Connor, but also a healthy baby girl. My last dr appointment was on Monday and I have officially been taken off the "old lady having a baby" list. Basically when you reach a certain age (in this case 35) you are monitored alot closeer since you are considered "advanced maternial age" and things tend to happen more often when the mother is a bit older. I just had to do more blood tests and different ultrasounds but on Monday after my appointment Dr Harris told me that everything looks perfect, all tests came back normal and I am no different than a 25 year old having a baby. So I will continue with my monthly visits and then I think when I get into my 3 trimester, I'll start my 2 week appointments. Her last heartrate check was 143bmp and I'm as healthy as can be.
I've been feeling great, despite some lower back pain and the threat of leg and foot cramps (which I'm trying to keep at bay because those hurt) everything is fine. We have started to feel her kick and move and I've gained about 15 pounds since I became pregnant (goal is 40).
We'll keep you posted on how things progress!!
I guess I should say her name as well. Her name will be Emma Marie Kolson :)
