Winning the "Jersey Off His Back"

So this blog is for Ahna T, who says I never blog about anything (ha ha). I did blog about going quadding a few weeks ago so I dunno what she's talking about but I think if we went back to 2006 B.C. (before Cooper) I don't think she has a ton of blogs either :D I don't really have anything cool and exciting to say. . . of course until now!

As you all know, Mom, Colette, Aunt Pat and I all go to the first and last home game of our beloved Dbacks. It first started out as just mom and I, then about 5 or so years ago Aunt Pat and Colette started coming. For those of you who don't know, the final weekend of the year is call "Fandamonium!" and they give away just about anything you can think of from cars to little key chains. The most sot after prize though, is the "Shirt of your Dback." The United Way sells scratcher tickets and you scratch to win prizes, hoping for the big "you win!" A few years ago, I got a "win" that ended up being some POS prize that I don't even remember. But this year, I got the big win! I at first forgot about it, for I was starving, but when I scratched it off, it said "you win." Colette at first was alot more excited then I was for I had seen this before. So we made our way down to gate E and sure enough the man told me "Congrats! You won a jersey!" I had to make my way back to gate E at the top of the 6th inning so we could get ready for our jersey presentation. This had to be the longest 6 innings of my life. I had to go down there by myself which kinda sucked but I was still getting in a jersey. They walked us through the bowels of BOB (or Chase Field if you so want to call it) We got to see the locker room and dug out entrances and a view cool plaque presentation of every first line up of the season. They had us in a small room were we could watch the game and then they called us up one by one to draw, at random a player. I was 30th in line to draw a player, so you would hear names being called off, excited who you didn't get it (Upton) or wishing you had (Tracy). My turn came and I drew Clay Zavada. Who? My thoughts exactly. My mom is a die hard dbacks fan and she wasnt even sure who that was and she watches the games all the time, I follow by the written word. So we had to wait until the game was over (which I missed) and then they led us out onto the field. So cool getting to stand on 3rd base line!! Looking at the crowd, I could see mom, Colette and Aunt Pat, I was so excited and nervous! They started calling players one by one and mom pointed to who Clay was and then I remembered. The one with that mustache! How could we have forgotten! For those who don't know, you can look him up on dbacks.com. They announced his name and he came out to the field, shook my hand, took his jersey off and handed it over. He was very nice and polite (as rookies should be!) So he will definately be my player to follow from now on. My mom and dad had made a great points that this was his first year playing in the majors. So I have his rookie jersey. When he makes it big, its getting framed!! Colette took some video so when I get that from her, I will upload it here.

Fun times! Dbacks '10!
