Our visit to NMMI

We took the weekend off to fly over and visit Chris at his military school in Roswell, NM on the 27th of March. It was quite the adventure. Flying over to New Mexico only took about 45 minutes, but it was the drive from ABQ to Roswell that took a long time. There is a lot of vast nothingness while driving that 3 hour drive, and there is no where to stop when someone has to use the restroom every 10 minutes (not me, and not Jon) None the less we made it to Roswell without issue.
Chris was really excited that we came, they were having a freak cold front so it was a bit chilly when we got there. I have never been to NMMI (New Mexico Military Institute) before so I found it very interesting to see what goes on in the day in life of a NMMI Cadet. In the picture above, Chris is walking with his regiment. He is the one to the left of the 3rd flag all the way to the right (does that even make sense?)
In the video below, Chris is "Changing the Guard" Ever hour (they don't do this every day, only on special occasions and for 8 hours a day) but they do a "changing of the guards" in front of the flame. Chris will come out and change the guard since he is the captain of the flame guard. The guard will pace back and forth in front of the flame, guarding it. There is a short video below so you can see Chris bringing the old guard to the center, to relieve him, the new guard is off to the left.

The trip over all wasn't too bad but we were definitely glad to be home. Roswell, NM is not the most exciting place on the planet. In fact if it wasn't for the school, I'm not sure what else there is to do in Roswell, except maybe look for aliens. We are so proud of Chris and how far he has come over at NMMI. It is with great excitement we watch him finish his junior year and head into his senior year over at NMMI starting in August. As Chris would say, "Go Air Force, Beat Navy!"

Cort :)
